Interchange Works: Tell Congress the proposed changes will hurt consumers

February 12, 2018 4:20 pm

The Credit Card Competition Act of 2023 is a proposal in Congress that aims to disrupt the well-functioning electronic payments system by shifting the cost of doing business for big box retailers to consumers and financial institutions including credit unions. Retailers pay a small fee called interchange when a customer uses a credit card for their purchase. Interchange helps to keep consumers safe from data breaches, enhances fraud protections, helps to pay for credit monitoring as well as the costs associated with fraudulent transactions, and much more. It also supports affordable access to credit for millions of Americans. Urge Congress to protect your card!
