Small Credit Union Resources

The Nebraska Credit Union League believes that the success of small credit unions is imperative to the success of the entire credit union movement. Education and training, regulatory and compliance assistance, and operational guidance are just some of the ways we assist small credit unions. These resources allow small credit unions ways to strengthen operations and provide quality service to their members.

Small Credit Union Advisory Task Force

The mission of the Small CU Task Force is to serve as the source of guidance and recommendations to NCUL in regards to needs, challenges, and opportunities for those in small credit unions. The committee is appointed by NCUL and is made up of small credit union management.

Credit Unions for Kids

Credit Unions for Kids is a cooperative effort of credit unions nationwide that raised millions of dollars each year for Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) and its affiliated Children’s Hospital. With Credit Unions for Kids, 100% of the funds raised in Nebraska go to the hospitals that serve Nebraskans. Check out this amazing video about how CU4Kids makes a difference here in Nebraska.  Started in 2018, the newest sponsorship the credit unions of Nebraska tackled is for the new Hubbard Center for Children.  CU4Kids will be sponsoring areas in the Hematology/Oncology department.  That project is complete and we will be searching for a new sponsorship opportunity for the upcoming years. Today, credit unions are facing an extensive array of challenges and opportunities.

The League prides itself on addressing these issues based on advice and counsel from individuals who are, themselves, dealing with these challenges and making the most of the opportunities on a daily basis. Our committee system at the League is made up of these very individuals—leaders from within the credit union community who care about the future of credit unions and are willing to take action.

We are grateful to all of the dedicated individuals who have to taken an active role in the League’s Committee System.

Please reach out to Amy Shaw, ashaw@nebrcul.org, if you are interested in being a part of a NCUL committee or board.

The Open Your Eyes to a Credit Union initiative is designed to raise consumer consideration of credit unions as a category. The campaign’s digital-first strategy positions research proven messages to disprove consumer myths associated with the ability to join a credit union and access ones money. The campaign will drive consumers to a site, www.yourmoneyfurther.com for additional key strengths of credit unions such as great rates and friendly service, and features a credit union and ATM/shared branch finder.

We’ve made the commitment along with other state leagues and credit unions. See all contributors on CUNA’s website (log in required).

YPCU aims to strengthen and engage young credit union professionals, generally between the ages of 18 and 35, through a wide variety of networking opportunities, educational seminars and community events. The skills acquired with a YPCU membership are paramount to the success we push our young professionals to strive for. YPCU keeps its young professionals current with industry trends and skills. We believe that our youth has the power to become successful for the future.
