About Us

The Nebraska Credit Union League is a not-for-profit trade association that represents the interest of Nebraska’s state and federally chartered credit unions and their nearly 510,000 members. The League was organized in 1934, and more than 70 years later, continues to focus on helping our member credit unions succeed. Based in Omaha, the League is a dynamic organization that provides an array of services to Nebraska’s credit union industry.

Amy Brodersen is the Chief Executive Officer for Family Focus Federal Credit Union. She has been working professionally in the financial services industry since 1984, when she began her career as a Safe Deposit Box Attendant. In 1990, Family Focus (formally known as Utilities Employees Credit Union) hired Amy on as a Teller. It was here that Amy moved ahead in her career by assuming the role of Office Operations, followed by Loan Officer, and then Executive Vice President.

In 2006, Amy advanced to her current role as Chief Executive Officer, where she is responsible for providing the credit union with leadership, strategic direction, vision, financial stability, and member satisfaction. She is also responsible for policy development, risk mediation, compliance and regulatory issues, asset liability management (ALM), investment management, and credit union operational procedures. Outside of work, Amy is passionate about her relationships with family and friends, her faith, her dogs, and staying fit. The two causes closest to Amy’s heart are any issues involving the well-being of animals—especially domesticated animals—and the sustainability of the credit union movement.

Peg Niedbalski entered the credit union profession in 1985, beginning her career at Dale Employees Credit Union as Assistant Manager. She has been with Columbus United Federal Credit Union since 1991 and is currently a Senior Vice President. Her work experience includes operations, compliance, human resources, lending, and project management. She is a long-time member of the NCUL Business Services Committee and at present serves as the Chairperson for the NCUL Cooperative Solutions Group and First Vice Chair of the NCUL Board of Directors. Peg is a graduate of University of Nebraska at Kearney, CUNA Management School, and Leadership Columbus.

Peg is an active citizen of Columbus presently serving as a Commissioner of the Columbus Housing Authority, Teammates Mentor, and parish Finance Committee member. A lifelong resident of Columbus, she is married with three sons and three grandchildren.

Steve Swanstrom is the President/CEO of Centris Federal Credit Union. He joined Centris in 2009 and was named President/CEO in 2013. Steve’s educational background includes a BA in Economics from the University of Iowa, an MBA from Creighton University, and he is a graduate of the National School of Banking. He is a member of the Better Business Bureau Advisory Board, the Nebraska Credit Union League Board, the Creighton University Heider College of Business Advisory Board, and the Young Presidents’ Organization.

Stan Fraser has been the CEO of the award-winning Nebraska Energy Federal Credit Union in Columbus since 2009. He began his career in community banks in Illinois, and has served as CEO of credit unions for 32 years in Illinois, New Mexico, Tennessee, and Nebraska.

Stan is a member of CUNA CEO Council and CFO Council, and CUES. He is a Shriner and a Mason. His wife, Alice, teaches in Columbus public schools. Stan and Alice have four sons.

Frank Wilber is a native of Detroit, Michigan and moved to Lincoln, Nebraska in 2013. Frank started in the industry while auditing credit unions in 1996. Since November of 2013, he has been President and CEO of Liberty First Credit Union, where he is responsible for the development of his associates to ensure they are serving the needs of the membership. Frank has served in several volunteer capacities, both in his industry and in the community. He was elected to the NCUL Board of Directors in 2017.

Frank received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Central Michigan University and studied in the Master’s Program at Walsh School of Business.

Bob Tinglehoff is currently Chairman of the board of OPPD EFCU. In the past he has served as Chairman of the NCUL. He previously worked at OPPD in the HR department as Safety and Worker Comp Administrator, and he is a former member of the Society of Safety Engineers and the Omaha Safety Council. In addition, he is certified in OSHA regulations.

Bob served in the United States Marine Corps and graduated from the College of Saint Mary in Omaha with a Bachelor of Science degree. He is actively involved in politics. Bob is married and the father of three children.

Jerry Barnett, the President/CEO of LINCONE Federal Credit Union, has served in the credit union movement for over 40 years. He has been with LINCONE for 34 years, and he has served as President/CEO for 27 years. While at LINCONE, he has seen assets grow from $3M to $132M, and he has facilitated the conversion to a community charter and led the merging of three credit unions into LINCONE.

Jerry’s commitment to serving credit unions is reflected by his volunteer service on the NCUL Board, the Cooperative Solutions Group (CSG) Board, the Nebraska Corporate Central Federal Credit Union Supervisory Committee, and several NCUL committees and task forces. He served as NCUL chairman in 2016 and CSG Chairman in 2015. He actively participates in the legislative arena by contributing financially, attending the Credit Union National Association’s (CUNA) Governmental Affairs Conference in Washington, D.C., and advocating for causes that benefit credit unions on the national, state, and local levels. In recognition for his service, Jerry received the L.A. “Tex” Gunzelman Professional Distinguished Service Award in 2010, and he was inducted into the CUNA House Hall of Leaders in 2017.

Jerry loves spending time with his wife of 43 years, their two sons and daughters-in-law, and five grandchildren.

Cheryl Mascarello has over 20 years of experience in Credit Union Management in the Omaha metro area, and over 30 years overall in the financial services industry. Cheryl has managed various aspects of credit union operations and services throughout her career. She is accomplished in all the major areas of financial retail sales and service, regulations, compliance, operations management, marketing, and brand management that involve extensive relationship management skills.

As President of Four Point Federal Credit Union, Cheryl is charged with planning, directing, and the control of all credit union activities in accordance with the credit union plans, policies, directives, and activities as established by the Board of Directors. She is also responsible for ensuring financial stability and member satisfaction. Cheryl has an intense passion for credit unions and the role they can have in improving the financial success of their members. In her spare time, Cheryl enjoys boating, fishing, and watching college football and hockey.

Keith Kauffeld’s career in credit unions spans more than 21 years. He served in multiple C-level positions at Air Academy FCU in Colorado Springs for 17 years before accepting the position of President/CEO at the University of Nebraska FCU in 2013. Since then, his credit union has implemented instant issue, indirect lending, mobile deposit, a rewards credit card program, and expanded its field of membership, to include opening a new branch office in Kearney in 2017. Keith considers one of his primary roles is establishing the culture of the credit union, and ensuring every employee understands their mission is helping members save time and money. This is a core value, and the credit union’s business model.

Keith shows his passion for credit unions and this great state by volunteering at the University, and serving as a founding member on the executive committee of the CUNA CEO Council. He and his wife, Barb, are both huge Cornhusker fans having grown up here. They even named their first pet, Tom, after the legendary Tom Osbourne.

Kevin M. Frenzel has been with Liberty First Credit Union for over 22 years as a member of senior management, and he is currently serving as the SVP of Sales, Service & Lending. Kevin previously worked in the banking and finance company arena prior to coming to the credit union world. He has served on several credit union committees and neighborhood boards, and he is currently serving on the Cooperative Solutions Board of Directors and Committee Chair of NCULSC Business Services Committee.

Kevin graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He has been married to his wife, Callen, for 31 years, and they have two children, Derek and Michaela. In his spare time, Kevin enjoys hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities with friends and family.

Kari Rager serves as Chief Solutions Officer for Family Focus Federal Credit Union where she is passionate about helping credit union members achieve financial freedom. Kari’s credit union career began in 1998 with Desert Schools Federal Credit Union in Phoenix, Arizona. After spending six years at home with her children, she began at Family Focus FCU (then Utilities FCU) in 2006. Her current role includes managing sales, marketing, business development, and lending compliance. In these roles, Kari succeeds in leveraging strategic thinking, problem solving, and excellent communication skills to innovate business processes and lead a sales team.

Kari obtained her Bachelor of Science in business leadership in 2012 from Grace University in Omaha, Nebraska. She has previously served on the board of directors for Omaha Chapter of Credit Unions, as well as Young Professionals for Credit Unions. Kari lives in Omaha with her husband, Glenn, and two children.

Dee Schriner has been with Trius Federal Credit Union for 27 years. She is currently serving as the CEO, a position she has held for the past 12 years. Schriner has served as a Board Member of the Nebraska Credit Union League, and she is currently serving on the Cooperative Solutions Board of Directors and the Supervisory Group at Millennium Corporate Credit Union. In addition, she is a member of Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce Envoys Committee.

In her spare time, Dee and her husband enjoy golfing and visiting their sons, who live in Omaha and Salt Lake City.
